Proven Oil and Natural Gas Reserves
Countries across the globe have been grouped into various categories depending on the quantum of proven ‘petroleum’, ‘natural gas’ and ‘shale gas’ reserves present in such countries.
Based on such quantum, the countries are sketchily divided into four categories i.e., very high, high, medium and low concentration.
These categories of proven reserves of oil and natural gas are broadly discussed below.
WORLD PROVEN OIL RESERVES
The map represents the global scenario of the proven Oil Reserves. According to the Map, reserves in the world have been divided into the following four categories:
Very high Concentration Countries(267 bnbbl-Above)—
Venezuela and Saudi Arabia
High Concentration Countries(110 bnbbl- 267 bnbbl)—
Canada, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Russia
Medium Concentration Countries(30 bnbbl- 110 bnbbl)—
Libya, Kazakhstan, Nigeria, China, Qatar, United States, Brazil, Mexico, Algeria.
Low Concentration Countries(0 bn bbl-30bn bbl)—

High Concentration Countries(52.7 – 170 trillion of cubic feet)—

Medium Concentration countries(9.1- 52.7 trillion of cubic feet)—

Low concentration countries(0-9 trillion of cubic feet)—
