Gujarat Gas Ltd (as ‘Complainant’)  v Adani Gas Ltd (as ‘Respondent’)

A complaint was filed against the Respondent under Section 21(3) read with sections 12(1)(b), 25, 13(1)(g), 28, and 48 of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board Act, 2006 with respect to the unauthorized development of a city gas distribution network and other ancillary violations by the Respondent. It has been alleged that the Respondent has laid and is continuing to lay, expand, and commence operations of an unauthorised city gas distribution network in the geographical area of Ahmedabad district. The Board has asked for additional submission from the Complainant in respect of the maintainability of the complaint.

China National Offshore Oil Company’s announces new gas discovery in Bohai

CNOOC Limited recently made a mid-sized natural gas field discovery Bozhong 19-6 in Bohai. Bozhong 19-6 trap is located in the southwest sag of Bozhong south central Bohai, with an average water depth of about 22 meters. The evaluation well was tested to produce about 1,000 barrels of oil and 6.4 million cubic feet of natural gas per day. This natural gas Is expected to lay a solid foundation for CNOOC’s quality clean energy supply for the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.

TGS and Schlumberger Announce New 2D Multiclient Project in Egyptian Red Sea

TGS, and Schlumberger’s new project to include acquisition of a 10,000 km 2D long-offset broadband multiclient seismic survey. Advanced new acquisition and imaging techniques will provide better illumination of complex subsalt structures, and the project will integrate all legacy seismic and non-seismic data. This project forms part of the agreement entered with South Valley Egyptian Petroleum Holding Company (GANOPE) in which Schlumberger and TGS have a minimum 15-year period of exclusive multiclient rights in a ~70,000 km2 open area offshore the Egyptian Red Sea.

Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) commissions the world’s largest refinery off-gas cracker at Jamnagar

RIL has successfully commissioned and achieved design throughput of the world’s first ever and largest Refinery Off-Gas Cracker (ROGC) complex of 1.5 MMTPA capacity along with downstream plants and utilities. The ROGC complex has a unique configuration as it uses off-gases from RIL’s two refineries at Jamnagar as feedstock. This innovative approach of integration with refineries provides a sustainable cost advantage, making ROGC competitive with respect to the crackers in MiddleEast and North America which have feedstock cost advantage. This project has made Jamnagar home to world’s largest operating refinery off-gas cracker.

Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (ONGC) acquires 51.11% stake of President of India in Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL)

ONGC and the President of India (President) have been engaged in discussions on a potential transaction for purchase by ONGC of the President’s shareholding of 51.11% in Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) in furtherance of the budget announcement by the Government of India for creating an ‘oil major’ which will be able to match the performance of international and domestic private sector oil and gas companies, and ONGC has entered into a share purchase agreement with the President for acquiring the 778,845,375 equity shares of HPCL (representing 51.11% of HPCL) on 20th January 2018. This acquisition is set to make ONGC the third largest refining power in the country, and India’s first vertically integrated energy company, with presence across the entire hydrocarbon chain.

Chevron Corporation announced a significant oil discovery at the Ballymore prospect in the deepwater U.S. Gulf of Mexico. Ballymore is located in the Mississippi Canyon area of the U.S. Gulf of Mexico, in water depth of 6,536 feet. Chevron subsidiary Chevron U.S.A. Inc. is the operator with a 60 percent working interest in the Ballymore prospect along with TOTAL E&P USA Inc., who has a 40 percent working interest.

IndianOil has demonstrated its competence in successful implementation of state-of-the-art refining technologies developed by its own R&D Centre with the timely commissioning of the Octamax Unit at its Mathura Refinery. This breakthrough technology developed by IndianOil’s R&D Centre converts C-4 streams from Catalytic Cracker and/or Naphtha Cracker units to high-octane gasoline (petrol) blending stream, thereby enabling compliance with stringent fuel quality norms.

An Indian Consortium led by ONGC Videsh Limited, wholly owned subsidiary and overseas arm of ONGC, Bharat PetroResources Limited (BPRL) and Indian Oil Corporation Limited signed a pact for acquisition of 10% participating interest in the ADNOC Group owned offshore Lower Zakum Concession for 40 years from 2018 to 2057. This is the first time that Indian oil & gas companies have been given a stake in the development of Abu Dhabi’s hydrocarbon resources.

Oil India Limited (OIL) announces the approval of the development plan for Golfinho-Atum field in the Rovuma Area 1 Offshore Block in Mozambique

The Area 1 block located in the deep-water Rovuma Basin offshore Mozambique is one of the largest gas discoveries in offshore East Africa with estimated recoverable resources of approximately 75 trillion cubic feet. The approval of the Development Plan is the culmination of several years of progress on technical and commercial aspects of the development. OIL is a sponsor in Area 1 Block, through its 40% shareholding in Beas Rovuma Energy Mozambique Limited (BREML), which holds a 10% Participating Interest in Area 1. The remaining 60% shares in BREML are held by ONGC Videsh Limited.

Oil India Limited (OIL) gets its first-ever patent from the European Patent Office

OIL successfully secured its first patent from the European Patent Office for an invention titled “A method for preventing wax deposition in oil wells with packers”, which is a major milestone for the R&D Department at OIL. The patent grant amounts to recognition of the uniqueness of the solution provided by OIL to the problem of heavy wax deposition in flowing oil wells completed with packers.

China National Offshore Oil Company’s oilfield in South China Sea commences production

CNOOC Limited’s Weizhou 6-13 oilfield is reported to have commenced production ahead of schedule. CNOOC Limited holds 100% interest in the oilfield and is also the operator. This oilfield is located in Beibu Gulf in the South China Sea with an average water depth of approximately 35 meters.

Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (IndianOil) flags off India’s 1st Hydrogen Fuel Cell Bus flagged off at IndianOil R&D Centre

Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. and Tata Motors Ltd. successfully launched the demonstration trials of India’s 1st hydrogen Fuel Cell Bus. Hydrogen is considered to be the fuel of the future and using the fuel cell technology, very high efficiencies can be achieved with water as the only component in the exhaust. To be fuelled at nation’s 1st hydrogen dispensing facility at R&D Centre of IndianOil, the vehicle would be subjected to long duration trials to understand the durability and efficacy of the fuel cell technology for mobility applications.
